Star of Hope school Infanta – picture special

Posted by

I will continue with several entries about Philippines this week.

In end 2004 Infanta in Quezon province in the Philippines was hit by a terrible cyclone. That lead to a major mudslide that buried houses and killed 2,000 people. Star of Hope responded in several ways. Immediately there were disaster reliefs. Second, Star of Hope built housing for about 100 families. And third Star of Hope built a school in the village. Great work for the poor families and kids.

The Star of Hope School today offers primary school from grade one to six. This school year has 172 students.

To visit Infanta you have to drive some three hours from Manila, but it is nice drive. I have been to the Infanta school several times. It has always interesting and learning to visit. The kids are great, every time I came there they had a dance or song ready to show the visitor. It was fantastic to see the kids eager to show their skills. The also impressed me in the classroom of course, they are very happy for their new school and what Star of Hope does. I really enjoyed every moment to go to Infanta, I hope to go back soon.
